- In olden times when holy men and women were travelling round, teaching the Christian Doctrine, they always pitched their tents near a well.
There are about two holy wells in the parish.
About one mile north of the village of Donard is a holy well. People use the water in it for household purposes.
Near the village of Hiollywood is "Lackan" well. The story told about it is very interesting. One day a priest and two or three men were going to Nass. It was a very windy day.
