- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)yeomen decided to close in on the little band. It was then evening and a mist began to rise from the bog and a gentle breeze was blowing in the direction of the yeomen.
In order to prevent capture Dywer set alight a farm-house on the slope of Kaigeen hill. He also set fire to a barn full of hay and straw and very soon the foot of the mountains was enveloped in a pall of smoke.
Dywer taking advantage of the smoke screen whistled up his men and marched them safely across Kaigeen mountain.
The people of this locality still refer to this as the Battle of Kaigeen.- Faisnéiseoir
