An old woman once told me that a Mr Roberts of Collahill drove a flock of sheep to Gorey and walked back in one day.There were not many swimmers in those days. I heard of one man whose name was Martin Farrell who was a great fisherman and swimmer He once broke the ice on the river and got in and swam in the winter.I believe there were plenty of onlookers to witness these events.
