Sometimes the old people say “It is too cold to snow”. Another sign of snow is the blackbirds and robins come around the door searching for food because they know when the snow comes they will be unable to get any.
When a thunder storm is near the sky is covered with dull dark clouds and it is very close and warm. The birds fly in the opposite direction in which the thunder is coming.
When there is a circle around the moon it is a sure sign of a storm. The nearer the circle the further the storm.
When the cat sits with her back to the fire and when the dog eats grass it is a sure sign of rain.
When you see smoke ascending straight from the chimneys you may look out for rain.
When the train is heard a good distance away it will soon rain. It is a sign of rain when you see a cluster of midgets and when you hear the crickets chirp it also denotes rain.
When there is a storm near the seagulls come inland and the birds fly very high.
A fog on the hills late in the evening is the sign of heat. You may also look out for a storm when you see the horse standing with his back to the fence.
