Co. WicklowIn this locality it is said that many traditional omens are connected with the behaviour of animals, fowl, birds, and insects and others with the sky and air. When there is a circle around the moon there is a storm expected. The bigger the circle the nearer the storm. The clouds travel very fast when it is going to rain. When the wind is coming from the west it brings rain also Cattle will come for shelter to low lands and will lie chewing their cud for most of the day before a change to drought. When swallows fly low and almost touch the ground it is a sign of rain. When a cat sits with her back to the fire it is a sign of hard weather. A lot of midges flying about portends thunder. When the crickit chirups loud and sharp it is a sign of bleak weather. Small insects come to the surface of the soil for food, that through the dry weather they were(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
