Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Aghold Parish.
    This is one of the oldest parishes in Ireland and is named Aghold. Ag Ubhla the field of the apple a form of which is still in use in "Crablane".
    It is situated in the Diocese of Leighlin (St Lazerin).
    There are the remains of an old Church supposed to have been founded by St Tiernan of Clonard in the 6th Century.
    Owing to its size 60' x 20' it was evidently a Timceal Mór.
    The earliest references we have to Ag Ulla begun in the Annals of the Four Masters
    (a) Cormac Abbot of Ag Ubla died 1019
    (b) Dermot, uncle of Cormac died 1050
    Some of the windows are round at top but there is one square one.
    The doors are rectangular.
    In the Graveyard there is an old cross, shaped thus made of [diagram here]
    granite.

    Legend of the Tagiline Bell
    St. Finian presented a bell to the church which used to be rung every day.
