- There was a man who name was Jacky Aspon. He had a little farm near Arklow.
One day he went out to shovel wheat with his labourers. There was a man near Jacky Aspon and he asked Jacky Aspon why was he looking towards the house all the time. He said he was waiting to be called into his dinner.
The maid came out and called the men to dinner. Jacky had a fish for his dinner and he threw it to the sheep-dog. When he had finished his dinner, he put on his hat and went out.
He went up on a hill and he wrote in the clay "Jacky Aspon's Gap" and it is called by that name to this very day.
This Jacky Aspon's Gap is at the back of Crogan Hill and near Wicklow Gap in Co. Wicklow.
This was told to me by my Grand Uncle. Thomas Barry, Martin's Place, Arklow.- Bailitheoir
