- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)And she never sings Cuckoo,
Till Summer is near.
This is the little-verse we hear of the cuckoo and I suppose it is true. She lays one egg. She is a speckled brown colour and is rather lazy as she builds no nest, but lays in the "Titlark's nest. The titlark thinks the young Cuckoo is her own and keeps her there in the nest. After all her goodness to it, when it grows up it puts all the young titlarks out and then they die from cold and hunger. The mother titlark still remains with the Cuckoo and feeds her well. They are often in Wicklow in Summer time, and their song is heard far and near.- Bailitheoir
