  1. This story was told to me by a neighbour Matthew Doyle. Rathnew
    In the district of Rathnew a crock of gold was hidden by a little white man.
    An old woman had a dream about this gold so she sent her son up to this place called "Jack the ploughman's field" at midnight.
    Her son went and got two neighbours to go with him.
    They went and started to dig and and started to be feeling very warm from working so hard when suddenly a man with a white coat appeared across the ditch.
    The diggers took to their heels with the man after them but when he over-took them they found to their astonishment it was only a friend.
    They went back anyhow and started to dig again and when they had got about three feet deeper the little white man appeared and raised a flagstone under which the
