- There was once an old man and woman who lived in very comfortable circumstances, and not very far away lived their son who was after getting married. He and his wife were very poor. One day a neighbour called to have a chat with the old pair. The neighbour asked the old lady how was it that their son could not live as comfortably as they lived. "Well", said the old lady, "when we were married, we had to eat porridge for breakfast, dinner, and supper and as we got richer, we had bacon for breakfast, chicken for dinner, and porridge for supper."
"When our son got married, they had bacon for their breakfast, and chicken for their dinner, but when they got poor they had to take porridge for their breakfast, dinner, and supper."- Bailitheoir
