- Some years ago there were four boys drowned at the Gad Island. They were coming down the river in a boat from Belturbet and they were drunk. They began to fight, and the boat overturned, and they sank; no one heard or saw them as there were no houses near them. Every night lights are seen here especially at Christmas as it was about that time they were drowned.Severe Weather.
Some years ago in this country there was very severe weather with frost, snow, and rain. The frost stayed on the ground for months and people could bring carts across the river.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
