    V
These cocks were brought to their statins'
The 'Leitrims' proposed three to one
They thought they could not be defeated
Their cock, he so often times won
"Thaws' he killed Murrays old Blinker
And left the old 'Osterman' dead
But he never was matched till he met
With this sporting Kildallon Brown Red
Statinis - corners as in boring
    'thaws' - because
    VI
These cocks got into a 'buckle'
Three times they came to the ground
Till the Leitrim flew something the highest
and knocked the Killdallomn "Bock" down,
The Brown-red lay under a 'brainbrow'
He lay for sometime on the ground,
While the Brown Red was in confusion
The Leitrim was just in his prime
    buckle - a clinch
    a brainbrow - stunned
    VII
They were brought again to their station
Like soldiers to fight for their bread
But the Leitrim's lot was to die on the spur
Of the sporting Kildallon Brown Red,
Here's a toast to the sporting James Plunkett (winner of the Piley)
That sent old Piley to bed.
That never was matched till he met
With our sporting Kildaoon Brown Red.
John P. Fitz. narrated by Patrick Fitzpatrick
    Glasstown,
This battle was fought according to narrator in pre-famine days (about 1835).
