- Long ago the people made different kinds of bread such as potatoe-bread oaten bread wheaten-bread and boxty. The potatoe-bread was made with potatoes first you would boil them then peel them and mash them and put salt and flour mix it and flatten it out and cut it out in square pieces and put it on a griddle used for the purpose. The way to make oaten bread is to put oaten meal into a dish and put warm milk on it a mix it and flatten it out and put it on the griddle beside the fire. The way to make boxty is to get mashed potatoes and to grate the same amount of raw potatoes and put flour in it and make it into a cake and put it on a pan. Long ago they baked every day except Sunday they baked enough on Saturday to do all over Sunday.
