- Potatoes are grown on our farm. My father puts an Irish acre and a half. My father prepares the ground. We put our potatoes in drills. At first the ground is ploughed and harrowed and often it is cultivated. Then they are opened and manure is spread in them and they are opened droped and the drills are closed. During the summer months the drills are grubbed then they are moulded. After this the stalks are sprayed to keep of the blight. The blue-stone is bought in the shop and is melted in a barrel of water the stalks are then sprayed with a sprayer.
The local spade is bought in the shop and here is the drawing of it. Some people dig their potatoes with a spade and others with a digger. They are stored in a pit until spring.- Bailitheoir
