    There is an Island situated in the Parish of Kilmore and surrounded by water called Inch Island and on the south side along the water level there is a large stone measuring about six feet (a)long and three feet wide. Inch Island is separated from Derries L? by a part of lough Aughter. Both townlands are about three miles north east of Killeshandra. There is an old tradition about this stone that there is an old pot of gold underneath it. There has been many men through time digging the earth away but they never went so far as to rise it probably for the want of help or for some thing unearthly coming over them. There is writ(e)ing on it but it cannot be made out because the grooves are partly worn away with the water beating against it. One time
