   Mr. Flood of oakhill had 14 cows, and grazed one for a neighbour. The owner of this cow could sell baskets of butter.

   The Floods when they churned had only wax. Nothing would drink the milk. Flood was a Presbyterian and no believer in such crafts as milk-taking &c. But a man from the mountain advised him to try a remedy:- He took a live coal from the kitchen to the byre, allowed no one to enter but himself. Then he said to the woman of the house: "Put a pinch of salt in your milk vessels when they are set out to air: Give up grazing the strange cow and all will be well". So it was.

   The only man I know who makes firkins nowadays is Sexton of Miltown.
   Very few people are filling firkins now. I only know of one person who does.
