Ar an leathanach seo
- We grow about 1 1/2 acres of potatoes every year. Some are set with spades, and more done in drills. The ground is prepared with the plough by my cousin or my father. The ridges are left the proper width 4 1/2 ft for ridges and furrow. The manure is left on the ridge in little heaps.
Then spread when the men are ready to start to start. My father has the seed cut, and prepared in the barn. The seed is dropped

in this shape shown by these spots. Setting starts then, when the potatoes begin to peep over the ground, they are moulded.
The mould is got by digging the furrows or else by giving them a scrap of the plough.
The ground for the drill potatoes is cultivated, and cross ploughed well. The drills are then opened. The manure put in the seed dropped, and the drills closed. When the potatoes begin to appear, they are well moulded.
Next is to get sprayed in good time, before the blight comes. If the season is dry our drilled potatoes are dug with a potato digger, and put into pits in the field. The ridges or set potatoes are always taken out with the spades. They are stored in pits until the Spring. In the Spring they our taken to the barn and sorted
