- How boxty is made. 28-9-1938Boxty is made with raw potatoes, boiled potatoes and some flour.
First the raw potatoes are washed and peeled and grated with an implement called a grater. Then the grated potatoes are put into a flour bag and put over a basin and the water is squeezed out of them.
The mixture that is left in the flour bag is mixed with boiled potatoes and some flour. It is made into a cake and put on the pan and left on the fire to bake.
When it is baked it is left to cool and when it is cool it is nice to eat to the evening tea or it is nice to eat when it is fried on the pan in the morning.
