- About a mile from the New Bridge or as it is known the Nine-eyed-Bridge, along the shore of Lough Ramor there are the ruins of the Still-house, in the corner of Mr. Gilsean's land. Here poteen was made for some years long ago; the house is situated in a small plantation. There is a noted fishing place which goes by the name of the Still house Rock. A number of men would come to this place and fish and make the poteen the whole day long. About a half mile from the Still house there is a spot in which poteen used to be hidden and kept in jars.Nobody knew about this poteen-making and this was later on found out. The smoke caused no comment so it was thought the men were cooking the fish they caught.
