- About twenty years ago there died a young boy named Keogan who at that time lived in a gatehouse on the farm at Lakeview owned by Bernard McEnroe. He was a great poet and could make a beautiful poem in a few minutes and without any preparation or delay.
For some years previous to living at Lakeview, he lived in the townland of Coronagh on the farm of Joe Gilsenan with whom he sometimes worked.
While living there with his mother he wrote many poems on current topics of the district. The best known of his songs are "Larkin and the Box" and "The Cobbler's grand Hotel."
He died young of tuberculosis and is buried in Munterconnaught cemetery.- Faisnéiseoir
