    anything else. The price per pound was 5d or 6d and there was far more bacon used than at the present time. Nine out of ten of the farmers in our district did not eat bacon this two years only at Christmas owing to the high price and want of money. The price of the milk at the creameries being so small that they used their own butter and did not buy that stuff called "Irish bacon".
    As the way it was cured now you could not buy much of a quantity in the Summer even if you had the money because it would go bad before being used. There were more salt herrings eaten thirty years ago than at the present time. Supper was generally at eight o'clock at night. Colcannon (Mashed potatoes) was used at Halloween. Eggs were eaten at Easter and the youths ate their "Cludog" where a number of them assembled in some field.
    I do not know when tea was introduced into the district. It came to be used twice daily over seventy years ago in most of the houses in this district.
    Tea used to be brought to the men in the fields in porringers. Boals were used before cups, and before porringers became common noggans were used. A noggan was
