In the time of he Famine (1846-47) there was a boiler with which to boil Indian meal to be rationed out to the local hungry people, at Lisnageer Cross i e where the public house now owned by F Brady is. The house now owned by Mr Black, Forthenry, Tullyvin Cootehill is said to have been a Workhouse in those days It is also said that graves are situated not far from the house - eg of the victims of the famine.
