- Before the time of motorcars the people went on side-cars to the Chapel to get married. The married party drove home in the side-car and they usually went by a different road than the one by which they came. Instead of "Confetti" rice was used and an old shoe was tied to the back of the bridal car. It was supposed to bring luck on the married party. If the bridegroom was very poor and couldn't afford to buy the ring, the ring of the bride's mother was used. The one ring was often used several times.
