    The stone called Mearóg is well known in this district.

    The stone called Mearóg is well known in this district.
    The following story, in connection with it, is also common in these parts.
    On the side of the road, which leads from the Williamstown road to the Ballinlough road, through the village of Cloonkeen there is a field which belongs to a man named Martin Bligh.
    In the field on the right hand side of the road and inside the roadside fence there is a large stone which rises about seven feet above the ground. It is not known to what depth the stone goes into the ground.
    The following story is related in connection with this stone
    The great Fenian, Cu Cuchullain, happened to pass through the village of Cloonlative which is situated on the side of a hill.
