- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)In the village of Cloonkeen there is a very large boulder of rock of stone called a Méaróg.
The old people tell us that it was thrown by a giant from the hill of Derreen a distance of two miles away.He took it in one hand and heaved it lies half buried on the side of the next hill-that of Cloonkeen. There are five marks which may be seen on it to the present day, which are said to correspond to his thumb and fingers.
A contractor from Castlere named John Fox once attempted to remove the Méaróg,but the workmen abandoned the removal, when they found blood on the wedges they used in trying to lift it.- Bailitheoir
