    Roinn Roinn Postáil
    Forts were used as fortifications in time of trouble. They were always built on the top of a high high hill. From one fort you are supposed to see six. Forts were always built round about two perches wide and a bank of clay and stones all round the edge. The bank was thrown up for the outside leaving a deep trench for protection.
    There was always a good spring inside or convenient to each fort.
    In some forts fairies were said to dwell.
    There are two forts together on Mr Dean's farm Drumacarrow near Bailieboro.
