  1. There are marriages since the world began. There are matches made in this country. Most of the matches are made by the people. They send word to a house where there is a suitable person to wed, and they tell him how much money the girl's father will give him. Then they go back to the girl's father and tell him how much land and stock the boy has. It takes a long time to fix things up between them. Then they go to the Priest and arrange with him about the day they are to be married.
When the marriage is over there is a great feast at the Bride's or Bridegroom's house. After the breakfast they go away on their Honeymoon.
Some time ago the people that were not invited to the wedding used to mask themselves and go into the house that the wedding was held at. They were called Strawboys.
The lucky time of the year for getting married is called Shrove, and the lucky days are Wednesdays and Fridays.
Long ago the people went to the chapel on foot. Some people went on horseback nowadays the people go in cars.
Some people used to run away with each other and get married in foreign countries.
