St John's Eve:- A bonfire to be light in honour of St. John.
May Eve :- Quick beam to be stuck in potatoes .
- St.Martins:-A cock was killed on the eve of of the feast and the blood was allowed to drip on a piece of cloth.(flax or tow)as it was supposed to be cure for a pain or "stitch"in the side.The cock was taken and a drop of blood was allowed to fall in the four corners of the house.
Handsel Monday:-It was considered unlucky to give away any money on this day and if you did you would be giving away your money all year .This day is the first Monday of the New Year.
