- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)The pigeon makes a flat nest in a thick ivied thorn bush. The starlings build their nests in an old ruin or at the gable ends of the houses.
The sparrows lay four or five white eggs with brown spots. The thrushes' eggs are blue with red spots. The pigeons lay two large white eggs, and the starlings five (?) blue eggs.
It is said that the robin tried to release our Divine Lord from the Cross, by attempting to pull out the nails with his beak, but he failed and his breast got stained with the blood and ever since the robin breast is red.
