- The people long ago had a different custom to what the people have now. If a boy wanted to get married he would pick out a girl. This girl's friends would walk the boy's land. Then the girl would give whatever money she had to the boy's father. Then they settled a day to get married which was usually on Shrove Tuesday. They went to the Chapel on side cars and on horse back. It was an old custom that the girl should go in the last car to the Chapel and in the first car coming home.
