- Blessed WellInformation given by Miss Reddan, Rathkeane Ruan to those in whose land the well is.This well has no special name. It is about 100 yards from Reddan's house. We never heard that it was dedicated to any particular saint. It is a small little well in the solid rock and no matter how dry the summer is there is water in it always. It cures sore eyes provided you go to it on Mondays and Thursdays bringing some little token with you to leave there. There is a story told about this well. Long ago when poor people used to go round to the houses looking for a night's lodging in our (Reddan's) house. In the morning the little boy went playing about, and he came to this little well and according as he was emptying the water the little well was filling again. He came back and told his mother about it, and she went with him to the well and washed her eyes in the water, and she got back her sight, and from that time it was called 'A Blessed Well'.Told to teacher by Cathal O'Cathasaigh - a pupil of this school.
