- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Genealogy of the O'Malleys of the Owals. The O'Malley chieftain family and its clan lived in a district bordering Clew Bay on the west coast of the County Mayo in Connaught. This district is mentioned in the account of the Battle of Moy Leana (Cath Maigheo Leana, in which King Eoghan Mor was killed by the followers of King Conn of the Hundren battles), at "The Kingdom of Aicill and Unhall." The earliest king of Aicill and Umhall mentioned in Crimthann Culluide (Criffan Yellow Locks), who had two sons, Eochaidh Glunfionn and Fiachaidh Lambrfionn. These sons were killed by Eoghan Mor when sent to him as envoys by Conn of the hundred battles. In the subsequent battle Goll mac marna killed Eoghan Mor. The Umorian Fir Craibe occupied Umhall before the O'Malleys, and Crimthann Culbuide was of this tribe. Aicill comprised the Island of Achill and the outer islands, the mountain Curraun peninsula, the lilly western part of the Barony of(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
