  1. For many years a poor travelling man visited our house regularly. His name was John Stevenson. He was a native of Mallow. He travelled on foot and he had a lame step. He always got a good reception around the locality. He used sell cups and other small articles. He bought them in Mallow where he got them at a reduced price. He used gather horse-hair also. He was last seen here about two years ago. Then he travelled down to Co. Leix where he has since died. The people in the mountain districts miss him very much as he sometimes brought them news from Mallow and often from farther away places.
