    Shrove Tuesday- The Tuesday before Ash Wednesday is called Shrove Tuesday because it is the last day of the shrove in which you can get married.
    Easter Sunday- Most children have feasts out in the fields on this day.
    May Day- It is very unlucky to give milk away on May day.
    November's Night and its customs
    One of the principal feast nights of the year which the children look forward to is November's night. On that night all sorts of games are played. There is feasting in every house on that night also.
    Rings, sixpences, thimbles, needles and crosses are put in cakes.
    The person that gets the ring will be married within a year.
    The person that gets the sixpence will be rich for ever and ever.
    The girl who gets the thimble will never marry and the boy who gets the needle will be (rich for) a tailor.
