- The rebelion of 1798 was even greater although not so successful as the 1916 uprising. A greater number of Irish men North and South taking part in the former, and although the weapons used by the rebels were of a very primitive type. They gained many notable victorys against the trained English soldiers.
The parish of Knock was well represented as is shown by the names of the leaders inscribed on a monument erected to their memory which stands near the public road leading to Knock Church on the(continues on next page)- Collector
