  1. About sixty years ago there were races held in Curraghmore. They were held in a field called the "Plot" near the main road. Mr Michael Philbin owned the plot.
    The races were often in the month of May.
    There were a good many horses in the race. There was a lady living below Crossmolina, she was called Lady Oran and she had a horse in the race.
    She was a very good horse woman and she often won prizes at the Curraghmore races.
