  1. On St Stephens day all the boys dress up with old curtains on their faces and old clothes. This day is kept in honour of the time when St Stephen was stoned to death by the Jews. St Stephen was the first martyr.The boys go round the town and the country in groups of five and six, Some of the boys have mouth-organs and other instruments others dance and sing and others gather the money. At the end of the day the money is divided equally except sometimes the boy with the violin or with the mouth-organ is given more.
