  1. Local Landlords
    The local landlords were Colonel Cooke Collis of Co. Cork Captain Barry of Mocollop and Pole [?] Carew of Tipperary. They were looked upon as bad landlords. They used to evict people and give the land to other people - these people were called grabbers. The Collises livedin Castle Cooke for hundreds of years.
    Their ancestoers got the land from the English after the Cromwellian wars. The people should vote for him or he would evict them. IN the time of the Black and Tan war Collise's house was burned by the I.R.A. and he went to England. There is a song about him.
