  1. Mem'ries golden hover round thee,
    O, thou kind, thou gracious nun,
    Thoughts from all thy loved & loving,
    Hearts, beyond, beneath the sun,
    Even now, sweet bells are chiming,
    Rung by angel hands unseen.
    Mother list, those chimes are telling,
    Angel fair that thou hast been,
    Ringing back the days when flitting,
    Youthful, bright & bland as they.
    Carthagh sought the poor, the lowly,
    All their sorrows to allay,
    Rise Heav'n Earth in one grand chorus,
    Tell of glories yet untold;
    Higher, sweeter, sing those praises,
    As the hours their charms unfold,
    Greeting pray that sparkling diamonds,
    Halo round those years of gold.
    Composed for the Golden Jubilee (1849-1899) of Mother M. Carthagh R.I.P.
    Presentation Convent, Lismore.
