In Summer the clay between each potato stalk is dug up and the weeds taken out of it. The [sic] the clay is put up around the stalks to support them. In October the big weeds are taken out of the drills, the potatoes are dug up and put into pits. They then are put into one large pit which is generally in the haggard. Shamrocks, Champions, Queens, Flounders, Skerry Blues and Kerr's Pinks are classes of seed locally used.
