    in this district: Kerrs pinks, Arran Victors, Arran pilots, Arran- banners, Champions and Great scots. Although Arran-banners yield the most, the Pinks are the best for eating.
    The following are a few words connected with putting in seed: geldens, tórnogs, seed, a kibber and a trowel. Long ago the old women used to make starch of potatoes and a few years ago they used to make it for starching coloured materials. The people of this district make bread from potatoes yet. This bread is made from all potatoes except a small taste of flour through it to stick the potatoes together.
