- I live in the parish of Mevagh.
I live in the town land of Aughalatty.
There are eleven houses in it at present, but there were a lot more houses in it long ago.
The most common name in it is Duffy.
There are three houses of that name in it.
There are three old age'd pensioners in it, and one of them can tell stories both in English and Irish. The colour of the soil in Aughalatty is mainly black and brown. The fields in it are all steep. The streams in it are the Carrick stream, the Aughalatty stream, and the Gortnabrade stream. The Aughalatty stream comes from a small lough in the hills. This lough is surrounded by five mountains.
The large hill on one side is called Cruchalla, and therefore the lough gets its name of Cruck alla.
There is a lot of shooting done in Cruck alla in the summer time, by visitors.
Cruck alla, belongs to my Father,(continues on next page)- Collector
