  1. When I was spending my holidays in a village called Churchill last year, a gentleman named Denis McDermott told me a story about an island in one of the lakes near there.
    The name of the lake is Lough Gartan and there are a few islands on it. On one of the largest of these islands there are some large stones and when the water is low in the summer there is a shallow passage on which people can wade over from the shore.
    On this island there was a castle which belonged to Godfrey O'Donnell and it is thought that it was to this castle that he went after he was wounded in the battle of Rosses in Sligo.
    The reason that the castle is not there now is because the house on the shore of the lake
