  1. In olden times the people made cures of their own.
    A child born after his father's death had a cure for blisters. If he licked then when they were small they would go away.
    Going under the donkey three times was a cure for the whooping cough.
    The seventh son was supposed to have a cure for every ailment under the sun, and so the old people liked to have seven sons born in succession.
