Tuesday. Shrove Tuesday is called Puss Tuesday, because the young marriagable girls and boys have a puss on them when they are not married, or asked to be married during Seraft. The other boys and girls who are too young to get married give a slap to those who have the puss to vex them.
Here are some marriage superstitions. It is not lucky if there are thirteen people at the wedding table, or marriage group.
It is not lucky for a wedded couple coming from the church to meet a funeral.
Change the name but not the letter marry for worse and not for better.
If you never court you will never marry. If it is not your lot you will not get married.
You will marry who is alloted for you.
    Marriages are made in Heaven.
There is a lining for every material.
As God made them, He matched them.
