  1. It was a habit long ago, when the old people divided their lands into fields to give them special names. A field here is called the Canadas on account of its being so far away from the home. The well field is another, because there are three wells in it. Máire Mór is the name of another field not far from my house, because an old woman lived in an old house in that field, There is a place not far from the school called Móinín Polo. The old name for the village of Lescuib is Baile na h-Abhann.
