    the battle. The English said they would give him all the land they could see and Kelly was satisfied. The next day when the battle was nearly over St Ruth was riding down the hill on a white horse then Kelly told the French gunner that he was the General then the gunner fired and took the head off him. Kelly then went to Ginkle and asked for the land and he brought him down to a sandpit and showed him all the land around and he could not see one bit of grass in it all.
