  1. There was an old school in Sylane Dunmore in ancient times. Nobody taught there for the past seventy years. A part of the school remains still to the present day. It was built with stones and lime and it was thatched with straw.
    The name of the teacher who taught there was Mr. Grealy. The scholars paid the teacher as follows. Each scholar used to bring him a small quantity of potatoes, tea, and sugar.
    In the evening the scholars had to bring home the teacher and give him refuge for the night. Each scholar had to do this in turn. He lived in Milltown
