- In the townland of Drumcashel there lived a man named Hugh Mc Nulty. His cows were milked every night and at last he sat up to watch. At midnight a hare was seen to approach each cow and suck the milk. This man fired a shot at the hare and broke its leg. He then followed it over hill and down dale until it turned in the lane below Conwell graveyard. It entered a small house there jumping over a half door. When the man entered the house an old woman was sitting on a low stool with blood flowing from a wounded leg.
