  1. In olden times people did not wear shoes until they were over school age.
    There are not any accounts of people who never wore shoes.
    Most children at present go to school barefoot in summer and autumn.
    Boots are made and repaired locally.
    There are three shoemakers in the district, there were a lot more shoemakers long ago than now.
    Long ago the people made shoes and boots from skins of animals, as there was no leather at that time.
    When people wash their feet at night, they do not throw the water out until the morning.
